Research Development and Policy Unit

  • Promotes and coordinates collaboration among researchers within and outside the University;
  • Development capacity of researchers in proposal writing research methodology and report writing;
  • Reviews and approves proposals for submission to sponsors/funding agencies;
  • Disseminates information on funding initiatives and opportunities to the University’s research community;
  • Identifies academic staff research interest and establishes links with potential sponsors
  • Assists researchers in preparing, writing and packaging proposals;
  • Maintains a searchable database of research and development funding information.
  • Operates a searchable database of researchers and their research and development interests;
  • Maintains a searchable database of all ongoing and completed researcher and development activities;
  • Publishers highlights of ongoing and completed research activities;
  • Maintains proposals and awards databases;
  • Prepares and submits to the Director contributions to the University’s Research and Development Reports.

DGM Goal

To encourage quality research activities in the University in line with its vision to be a centre of excellence in knowledge generation for global development and the sustenance of an environmentally friendly society. This is in addition to strengthening research and scholarship by staff and students in all areas that will benefit society at the local, national and global levels.
